I began my career in education in 1997 after earning a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education/Biology from Hastings College (NE). I was a member of the baseball team at HC as well. My first teaching job took me to the mountains of Colorado where I taught English and coached football and baseball at Buena Vista High School. We returned to Greeley when I accepted a teaching position at my Alma Mater, Greeley West High School,to teach earth and life science and also coached the football and baseball teams. Upon earning my Master's degree in Sport and Exercise Science and my Ed.S. from the University of Northern Colorado (GoBears!), I then embarked on my administrative journey as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Valley High School in Gilcrest and am now fortunate to be in my 5th year at WMS. I love spending time with my family- my wife, Sarah, and I have been married for 19 years and we have three great kids- Kyndal, Raegan and Andrew. I am hopelessly addicted to golfing, fishing and hunting and when not busy with school duties, you can find me enjoying those activities.
With the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year, I will embark upon my 22nd year in public education and fourth year as Assistant Principal at WMS. The majority of my experience in education has been spent as an instructor at the high school level teaching Biology and Physics, and coaching. Prior to joining WMS, I was the Assistant Principal of Valley High School. I received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from CSU and worked several years in industry before returning to the classroom and pursuing certification in secondary science instruction. The bulk of my graduate work was completed at UNC where I earned an M.A. in Educational Leadership. My wife Kristy and I reside in Berthoud and are the parents of two, Lindsey and Ben. Lindsey lives with us at home and Ben recently graduated from Montana State in Bozeman. When not attending to professional responsibilities, much of my time is spent outdoors. I enjoy water activities, hiking and traveling to new destinations.
